Summer 2026 Art Education Paid Internship

Position: Summer Art Education Paid Internship

The Maude Kerns Art Center is seeking a Summer Arts Education Intern who will support our summer programs for our youth, middle school, and high school students! As a nonprofit organization focused on arts education, the Art Center offers weekly summer camp programs for youth (ages 6-11), MS labs (ages 11 -14), and HS labs (ages 14-17). The position begins June 15th and ends the week of August 21st, (the week of July 6th - July 10th will be off due to the holiday). Youth camps run 8:30-3:00 pm for our youth camps and 9 am -12 pm for both our middle school and high school labs. Each week of our summer camp/lab program has a different theme and will focus on working with a variety of art materials and processes.

Working at Maude Kerns is a great opportunity to gain classroom experience, work with and inspire creative individuals, and participate in the arts community of Eugene.

Position Description: The Summer Arts Education Intern will predominantly work with our youth camps and be responsible for helping the Director of Arts Education and instructors with daily classroom activities, assisting students with art projects, monitoring students behavior and providing positive support, and general supervision during outdoor breaks. The intern's work day begins at 8:00 am and ends at 3:15 pm.

Summer 2026 Art Camp Instructors

Position: Summer Art Camp Instructor

Maude Kerns Art Center is looking for experienced instructors to join our teaching team for this Summer Camp season! The Art Center offers weekly programs beginning June 15 - August 21, 2026, 8:30-3:00pm for our Youth (6-11 years old) and 9:00 am-12:00 pm for our Young Adult (MS: 11-14 years old, HS: 14-17 years old) students. Each week of our Summer Camp program is a new theme and will focus on working with a variety of art materials.

Instructors will work directly with students to create an immersive Summer Camp experience through themed art activities. MKAC offers flexible scheduling for instructors. MKAC Summer Art Camp Instructors must have a strong passion for the growth of young artists and the patience to be encouraging when students struggle with projects.

Printmaking Instructors

Maude Kerns is currently seeking printmaking instructors to teach at Whiteaker Printmakers.

Multiple Positions Available:
Weekend Workshop Instructor
8-Week Class Instructor

Compensation:
$17–$24 per hour, depending on experience

Our studio is equipped to host:
Relief Printing, Intaglio, Monotype, Letterpress, Lithography, and Screen Printing.

We offer a wide range of printmaking opportunities in our studio. As an instructor, you will guide participants through ideation, printmaking techniques, problem-solving, and critiques. We're looking for instructors who are passionate about printmaking and excited to work with artists of varying experience levels!

Maude Kerns Art Center encourages teaching artists who would like to provide education and enrichment classes to fill out our online teaching artist application.

Our programs serve our Youth, Middle School, Families, and Adults in a variety of visual arts disciplines: Painting, Drawing, Fiber Arts, Ceramics, Collage and Other Paper Arts, Art Journaling, Digital Arts, Photography, Printmaking, and Artist Services. There are many methods and practices not listed here. Please see our current class pages to see the breadth of classes offered.
