As part of Maude Kerns Art Center’s Artist Services Program, the Artist Resource Studio is a space designed to support working artists in their practice from start to finish. Located on the upper floor of the MKAC West Annex building, the Artist Resource Studio is available to the public for use 6 days a week. The goals of the Artist Resource Studio are to allow local artists affordable and equitable access to a variety of tools, equipment, and resources to support them in their creative endeavors and careers.
The Artist Resource Studio is equipped with a variety of resources to support working artists in their practice from start to finish, including space to create in a variety of disciplines, tools for finishing and presentation, and equipment to help document and share finished works with the world.
Access to the MKAC Artist Resource Studio may be granted after an artist has successfully completed any class in our "Essentials for Artists" Series OR after the completion of an orientation with MKAC staff. To sign up, read through the information below and fill out an inquiry form.
The Artist Resource Studio is open and available for all to use after the completion of an orientation or applicable MKAC classes. As a studio artist, you are expected to know the equipment and techniques that you have applied to use and should be able to work independently. We have a variety of classes and workshops scheduled so you can learn new things and expand your skills.
Weekday availability is from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm except during holidays, class times, and special events. Weekend availability is on Saturdays from 12:00 pm-4:00 pm unless we are hosting a special event or are closed for exhibition turnover. Once you've completed your orientation, you will be given access to our online booking system where an updated schedule will be posted and available hours may be booked. The Artist Resource Studio includes access to a desktop computer, scanner, Adobe Suite, portable photo light boxes, a dry-mount press, mat cutter, paper cutters, light boxes, drafting tables, button makers, and more. Artists are responsible for bringing all other supplies needed to make their work. We are continuously growing the list of resources available within this space. Members of Maude Kerns Art Center may use the Artist Resource Studio for an unlimited amount of hours for FREE. The fee for non-members is $15 per 2 hours of studio time and $27 for up to 4 hours of studio time. While maintaining a Maude Kerns membership is not a requirement for use of this space, you can learn more about signing up if you'd like to enjoy the savings of the member's rate by clicking the link below.
