Arts Education Coordinator (AEC)

The Maude Kerns Art Center (MKAC) was started in 1950 as an active non-profit community visual arts center. MKAC is in the process of expanding its teaching facilities and seeks a highly motivated Arts Education Coordinator (AEC) to revitalize and expand its education programs. The AEC is responsible for coordinating, administering, and developing MKAC’s education programs. The AEC must be energetic, diplomatic, flexible, and possess strong administrative and organizational skills. The AEC will lead a vital, interconnected community that offers visual arts learning opportunities for all ages, and must be able to work successfully with a broad spectrum of staff, art instructors, artists, students, parents, Art Center members, volunteers, school administrators, and other non-profit organizations. The AEC reports to and works directly with the Executive Director. Teamwork, communication, effective follow-through, attention to detail, and a positive attitude are essential.

Art Instructor Positions

The Maude Kerns Art Center is currently looking for an experienced and creative Art Instructor for our adult drawing, painting, ink, printmaking, color theory/exploration, pastels, or other creative medium fine art classes. Classes are typically 2 – 3 hours once a week, and run for a total of 8 weeks. This is a great opportunity for professional artists or college students to gain experience in teaching or further their own creative careers, and to become part of the oldest art center in Eugene.

Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of art mediums, process, and techniques
• Experience managing groups of 6-15 students
• Experience developing curriculum a plus
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Maude Kerns Art Center is currently looking for dynamic and creative Art Instructors for youth (ages 6-12) and young adult (ages 10-16) drawing, painting, manga/cartooning, or other creative medium fine art classes. Our classes last for eight weeks, with a 1 ½ hour-session each week. This is a great opportunity for college graduates with some professional experience in art education, who are looking to get teaching experience. Instructors are expected to teach for the entire term, and may have the opportunity to continue into future terms.

Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of drawing, painting, and/or cartooning
• Experience managing groups of 6-15 children
• Experience developing curriculum a plus
• Available 3:30-5:30pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Art Around The World (Ages 6-12)

Maude Kerns Art Center is currently looking for dynamic and creative Art Instructors for youth spring break art camps! Our camp sessions will run March 26 – 30, 2018. This is a great opportunity for college graduates with some professional experience in art education, who are looking to get teaching experience. Instructors are expected to teach for the entire week for 4.5 hours per day, and may have the opportunity to continue into future terms. Youth art camp instructors will teach from either 8:30am-1:00pm, or from 12:30pm – 5:00pm.

Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of drawing, painting, and cultural arts
• Experience managing groups of 6-15 children
• Experience developing curriculum a plus
• Available for up to 4.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Cartooning Workshop: The Art of Visual Storytelling (Ages 10-16)

Maude Kerns Art Center is currently looking for dynamic and creative Art Instructors for young adult spring break art camps! Camp sessions will run March 26 – 30, 2018. This is a great opportunity for college graduates with some professional experience in art education, who are looking to get teaching experience. Instructors are expected to teach for the entire week, and may have the opportunity to continue into future terms. Young adult camp instructors will teach from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of drawing, painting, storyboarding, manga, anime and/or cartooning
• Experience managing groups of 6-15 people
• Experience developing curriculum a plus
• Available to work 3+ hours per day, Monday - Friday
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
