Earth
Element by Joyce Keener
This
exhibit features four artists: Joyce Keener, Launa Romoff, Margaret
Rutherford, and Libby Wadsworth, who incorporate text in their
artwork in different ways. Margaret Rutherford has created a
narrative, I Grew Up With the Dead, made up of framed prints
and poetry, chronicling her experience growing up as the daughter
of a Holocaust survivor. Joyce Keener combines photographs and
text in collage form. Launa Romoff incorporates found objects
in her work. Libby Wadsworth presents familiar words in unfamiliar
ways. Through their various styles, each of these artists explore
how text and image are both languages of description and representation.
